How Do I Update My Name in My Provident Fund Account After a Legal Name Change?

Hi Ankit,

I have legally changed my name and obtained a new passport as proof of the same. Can somebody please guide me on how to update my name in my PF account? Based on some previous discussions, it seems that my employer needs to submit a request for the name change. However, I have been unable to locate any official documents or statements related to this process on the PF website. Could someone assist me with this matter, please?

Ankit,

You have to submit a name change requisition letter to your current employer along with necessary proof. The employer has to send the name change intimation letter along with an attested copy of your proof of name change to the EPF Commissioner.

It may be done by submitting an affidavit and a letter from your employer along with the revised Nomination and Declaration Form.
