Please search the web for a question on a general topic like this and then pose a precise question stating who you are, where you work, and why you want the answers. Critical success factors vary from situation to situation; for example, CSF for a good educational establishment are different from those for a hospital.

Have a lovely day.

Hi,

As Simhan has pointed out, the Critical Success Factors vary from Industry to Industry and from situation to situation. If it is for an individual (say yourself) and not for an organization, then again the answer takes on a completely different meaning. Being specific about your query will elicit the right response.

Hi,

Thank you for your response. I needed to understand how the CSFs are identified in different companies. I wanted to comprehend the entire process that underlies the identification of CSFs.

Hi,

The main point in CSF is that it is identified by the company from the customer's point of view. The company has to consider what is critical for the customer. For example, low-cost materials, excellent services, and good quality are something that everybody wants; hence, this can be construed as CSF.

To identify the CSF, one has to conduct extensive market research, understand the competitive environment, and focus on continuous improvement and innovation.

This concept can be understood with an example of LG. We all know that LG has captured a good amount of market share in the air conditioner business. How was this achieved? By understanding the CSF for a particular product:
1. Low-cost air conditioners
2. Providing value through after-sales services
3. Ensuring customers understand the lifespan of the air conditioner is 2-3 years.

For further clarity, please mention your company name, the product or service you manufacture/render, so that relevant suggestions can be provided.
