Gratuity Act - Amendment 2010 - Pdf Download

One has to wait till the Notification on the Gratuity Amendment Act is issued by the Government.

Please confirm the date from which this enhanced amendment of Rs.10 lacs in Gratuity limit is exempt from income tax beyond Rs.3.5 lacs in case of employees of Public Sector Undertakings which is not a purely Govt. undertaking
kindly inform me.

U have taken lot of pains to post only the Bill that was introduced/passed in the Parliament and not the Notification to be issued by the Ministry (of Labour or Deptt of Personnel & Training). The bill is not the notification.

The amndment has received the President's assent on 17th May 2010 and the notification has been isued in The Gazette of India Extraordinary on 18th May 2010 Part-II Section-I.
Therefore the ceiling for gratuity payment has become Rs.10 lakhs wef 17-5-2010.

The Gratuity Amendment Act 2010 has been notified by the Gvernment on 21St May 2010 and The Amendment has been given effect with effect from 24th May 2010.
As far as the PSU employees who have retired after 01/01/2007,ie after the wage revision, as per the PRC and as approved by the Government,wherein the gratuity limit has also been increased to Rs 10 lakhs,it was expected that that Government will make a favourable consideration.However the chapter seems to be closed with this notification.There is discrimination between two sections of employees of the same Government as far as the tax implication .

I came to know that in the amendments of Gratuaty act 2010, all teachers who are working in private run institutions, are eligible for Gratuaty..is i ncluded.. Is it Correct?
If so, May I get the copy of that G.O...

I also request you to let all know the exact effective date of amended amount, i.e., from 22.4.2010 or a retrospective date: 1.1.2006/2007
