Torn Between HR and Aviation Careers: How Do I Decide Which Path to Follow?

I'm in trouble. Actually, I'm confused about making a decision. Right now, I'm working with an MNC as an Executive HR. I have a diploma in aviation and hospitality. Before joining this company, I was planning to pursue a job in the airlines (as an air hostess). However, I was selected by an MNC as an Executive HR.

Now, my friends are advising me that I should also consider trying for airlines. What should I do? Should I apply to airlines or should I apply for an HR position in other companies? Which industry is the best? Please give me advice.

From my side, I cannot discriminate which is the best - Air Hostess or HR. I think both professions carry their own importance. However, I would suggest that since you have already worked in HR, you can now consider joining an airline to add value to the course you have previously undergone. If, for instance, you are unable to secure a position in airlines, you still have experience in HR which will definitely open doors for you in any MNC.

The job you have right now is really good, involving a lot of brainwork as well as manual work. However, as far as an air hostess job is concerned, I don't consider it up to that standard. A job should be one where people admire you for the amount of work you do. In an HR executive job, your next jump could be to an HR manager position if you succeed in the future. However, the decision lies with you; you are your own decision-maker and have to determine what's right or wrong for you. People might say different things. It shouldn't be something you regret later in the future; think about it from a long-term point of view.

On a long-term perspective, HR will add value to your profile. Well, I can't comment on the Aviation industry and the different profiles. One thing is for sure, as work progresses in HR, there is no looking back. As you have specialized in Hospitality, you could consider pursuing a career as an Air Hostess. If you are selected, that would be great. If not, that's fine too since you are already established in the HR field with an MNC.

When it comes to industries, both have their own values. However, the HR field is generally considered to be more respectable. Ultimately, the decision is yours to make.

I work for a national carrier based in Oman. I work in the HR department. In my opinion, you should pursue a field based on your competencies. Please assess yourself by doing a SWOT analysis and then work towards the same. In my opinion, both are very challenging fields that require extended PR skills.

Do you plan to work even after marriage? Being an Air Hostess (AH) can be attractive, but you should maintain your health (body shape) or you will be given a PINK SLIP. The older you become, the fewer chances you have of retaining the role as an AH. However, you could earn a handsome salary in a short amount of time and have the opportunity to fly to places you like. Before making a decision, consider how long you intend to work. This will give you a clear idea.

Hi, as there are limitations in work, time, experience, and nature of work, it is different in HR with a wide scope, your previous experience, knowledge, time span, and growth. These are two different fields.

HR - A job with scope, respect, and high value. As you have experience as an HR professional in an MNC, I would suggest you continue with HRM for a bright and respected future. Aesthetician (AH) is a good and glamorous job; however, it comes with many discomforts. Consider yourself in a position where you have to make decisions considering all aspects of your personal life. It's essential for a girl to make decisions not based solely on the job title, whether in HR or as an aesthetician.

Good suggestion - take up an HR job in the aviation sector. However, since the industry is in turmoil, it's better to stay put for some time.
