Dear Nigha,

Roles in the Advertising Industry

Few of the roles used in the advertising industry are as follows:

- **Content and Creative Copywriter**: Ideate on concepts and craft copy in line with client briefs. The ability to write on lifestyle brands such as hospitality, real estate, and luxury products is a must.

- **Account Planning Supervisor**: Leading account and strategic planning, driving new business development initiatives, leading consumer understanding, and proactive consumer research initiatives. Mandated with the task of building marketing effectiveness case stories for clients.

- **Web Strategist**: Possess in-depth knowledge of online trends, business, design, user experience, and technology. Responsible for planning and executing end-to-end online marketing and SEO campaigns. Create and develop a long-term strategic business plan.

- **Event/PR Manager – Brand & Communication**: Organize events, seminars, roadshows, and conventions for the company. Determine the fiscal requirements and prepare a budget for the event. Plan and liaise with various departments and event management companies. Conduct feasibility studies to identify new event opportunities for the company. Source venues and arrange for other logistics required. Support in merchandise and collateral procurement and set-up. Pre-event report on requirements for set-up. Post-event reporting (for all events/road shows/seminars) on activities, audience, feedback, next steps, improvements, etc. Define, develop, and drive strategic PR programs and provide professional advice to both internal and external stakeholders. Define, develop, and drive strategic media relations programs.

- **Online Advertising Trainee**

- **Campaign Development Specialist**: The Campaign Development Specialist will assist the Centre Marketing Campaign Development Manager with support on the development of campaign material (collateral, call scripts, data on capacity, etc.) in close coordination with the whole GSC campaign support team. Assist in global campaign development. Provide best practice sharing to the Clusters via Webex and video conferencing. Provide general communication consultancy to Cluster Commercial Planning on external matters, i.e., on the use of media as a (new) channel as a support to local campaign efforts. Assist the Centre Marketing Campaign Development Manager with capability build-up and competency development of marketing items (value prop Webex, etc.). Coordinate with agencies on campaigns.

Finally, please find a discussion in a blog about the innovative designation for the roles and its disadvantages. afaqs! > news & features > It's raining designations in advertising <link updated to site home> (Search On Cite | Search On Google)

Dear Cite Contribution,

Thank you so much for the valuable information and helpful sites. I have a few confusions. In advertising, a team is developed according to the account they have. So, how can a Campaign Development Specialist coordinate, since each account is like a campaign for them? Is it helpful to keep a Campaign Development Specialist in addition?

Title and Designation Confusion

Can the title "supervisor" coincide with the designation? I am confused; isn't "supervisor" used for assistant-level positions?

I am really obliged that there is a title like "web strategist." I am really thankful to you. The information and articles have given me more insight into advertising jobs and functions. As discussed in articles, an advertising company is creative and has good scope for talented people, but designations and remunerations play a key role. However, I guess advertising can provide incentives and benefits that would ensure financial security as well as a good remuneration package for the employees.

Looking for feedback.

Regards,
Nigha
