Hi, I need help in understanding Service Tax for placement consultants. Is the Service Tax 12.36% or 10%? Secondly, for a company that has not reached ₹9 lakh as yearly turnover and does not apply for a service tax number, can they charge service tax from their clients? If they are charging, how will they pay tax to the government without a service tax number?
