Understanding Provident Fund Liability: Is It About Employee Count or Salary?

d_rajakala
Hi all,

I have a doubt: when is a person liable for PF? Is it based on the number of employees in the organization, or does it depend on the basic salary of the employee? Can anyone guide me?

Thank you.

Hi Rajakala,

The liability of an employee to the EPFO purely depends on the basic salary they are currently drawing. It also depends on the number of employees working in the company.

Please go through the attachment, which can guide you to rectify your doubts.

It depends on the number of employees working in the organization. It does not depend on the salary he draws, dear.

There need to be 20 or more employees, and employees earning up to 6500 pm are covered. I hope the enclosed PowerPoint presentation will be of some help.

Can anyone help me understand if I can withdraw my PF amount after 5 years, as I am no longer working with the organization.

Also, please suggest if employees filling out Form No. 11 means they have no objection to the deduction of PF, or if it is mandatory to provide PF if the basic salary is above 6550/-.
