Struggling with Employee Appraisals in an NGO? Seeking Effective Evaluation Methods

smruti rekha behera
I am working in an NGO with 150 employees working on different projects. I don't know what methods or techniques I should follow for their appraisal. Can you please suggest the appropriate format or method for evaluation?

Thank you,
Smruti

Hi Smruti,

One needs to carefully design an appraisal system keeping in mind the organization setup, people, presence/absence of KRAs/definition of Job Roles, competency mapping, etc. What you may initially do is view demos which are available online, make up a broad baseline, and then speak to a service/product supplier who may add his experience. Hope that helps. Take care.

Hi there,

Since your organization is project-based, the best approach for performance appraisal is by objectives. You can set objectives for individuals to achieve (KPIs) based on the milestones outlined in the project charter and establish a set of competencies using their job descriptions. Then, you can measure their performance based on these objectives.

If you need further assistance, please send me the job descriptions, and I can assist with defining the competencies for you.
