There is confusion for me. I would appreciate if someone could differentiate between self-image and self-esteem. Can we use the same concept for self-esteem too?

Vinod

Self-image is how we see ourselves internally (good, bad, etc.). Self-esteem is the level of pride and respect we have for ourselves. A high level of self-image leads to good self-esteem. A dented self-image (complex, self-pity) leads to low self-esteem.

Hope I'm clear. Others are welcome to share their point of view.

Dear Vinod,

Have you searched the web before posting your query? If not, please do so. By using Google and searching for "self-image and esteem connection," I found 3 scholarly articles and 268,000 hits.

Have a nice day.

Hi,

Very good questionnaire. I especially liked the analysis part of the questionnaire. Maybe we can use it as a selection tool in some cases.

Thanks,
Shankar

Dear Simhan,

With reference to your above mail, we acknowledge that you are a scholarly individual. However, it doesn't mean that everybody should refrain from posting articles once they have been posted. Our policy is to share, share, share... that's all.

Mr. Simhan, please do not blame or discourage goodwill.

Discussion based on sound research is better than just expressing views. If bloggers do not have time to search and find out, I am extremely sorry for the state of lethargy that we have developed. It appears from a lot of requests here for project reports, questionnaires for studies, etc., that people are resorting to easy ways. There are a few who would think that spoon-feeding is bad.

I am used to making my students self-learners. For example, see my post at https://www.citehr.com/49496-regardi...ivation-2.html

I am sorry if I have touched some raw nerves of some bloggers. Instead of requesting me to add to the discussion after reading the scholarly articles, I suggest that bloggers who advised me read the articles and then add to the discussion.

Dear Vishwanathan,

I have only requested people to read the articles. I have never said do not post and share, but I have requested people to give due credit to the source from where they got the published material.

Have a lovely day.

Mr. Simhan has always been the first to assist, help, and guide people with genuine questions and doubts. I have seen many of his replies answering patiently even though the questions have been repetitive, such as projects on MBA, etc.

In the above response, he has recommended going through a few articles that can provide members with better insights. Let's respect, share knowledge, and continue healthy discussions.

I am confused about how to score the points. In the table below, what do we need to edit, for example, 5 or 2? Please clarify how to measure the score.

Thank you.

Dear Simhanji,

It's not to any personal extent or raw nerves... We should share as much as possible. I have tried the links you have mentioned, and thank you for the same.

I think nobody will use the articles in such a way that it can be a shameful act, which can be easily caught in the cyber world.

Dear sir, sorry for my hurtful words.

Regards,
Viswanathan

Dear Vishwanathan,

You seem to imply that doing something that is not easily caught is OK. I am only appealing for people to give credit where it is due and also to do some work before raising questions. One only needs to see the number of messages that have gone unanswered as people are expecting spoon-feeding. I am glad that there are a few who agree with my views.

Have a nice day.

Help required in case of medical equipment. If we spend on research and development, we get some incentives from the government, I suppose, and depreciation. If anybody knows about it, please send me procedures.

Hi

I am not happy with this questionnaire. If you are going to share tools then please ensure they are helpful and developmental in nature rather than critical and unhelpful.

I feel that if someone who was suffering from a poor self-image completed the survey and read the comments at the end of the survey, they would walk away feeling worse about their self image. How is this tool helpful? I copy out below your 'results' for someone scoring less than 20 points in the survey and wonder where the development is? All I see are comments that would make someone with a poor self-image become more conscious of themselves - you are simply highlighting their faults.

"Your self image is deplorable. Your general attitude is submissive, and you feel a constant need for the approval and acceptance of others. You don't like talking about yourself at all, and you are afraid of letting go. You refuse to make an effort to develop intimate relationships.

You're a worrier, who gets depressed easily. You run a minimum of risks. You're probably introverted, and find it very difficult to communicate. Other people see you as a loner, a bit of an outsider and, since you appear to care so little about your image, as someone who is lonely by choice, while in reality, it is your fear of rejection that has condemned you to solitude."

I agree with Ranjit's views.

We need to be careful in how we express interpretation of results. I am not sure whether the Self-Image questionnaire has been tested for validity and reliability. I had not studied the attachment before.

I suggest that bloggers take a look at [The Self Awareness Questionnaire](http://www.e-trainme.com/questionnaire1.html) where there is a questionnaire, which I found by Googling! I purposely answered negatively for all the questions. Thus, I was able to access the analysis of the responses. The script is comprehensive. I have just given the following extract (First para) to highlight the language used which does not discourage the respondent.

"Your overall profile is very much on the negative side. There is a positive side to this profile. You have likely approached the questionnaire with an honesty not given to many. A profile of this type may though also indicate a strongly independent streak. A profile of this type may also indicate an extremely rebellious attitude, or a lack of insight. Whichever interpretation you believe to be true of yourself, you have many opportunities for self-improvement, and the sooner you commit to take positive action, the sooner you can benefit. See the more specific comments below."

Have a nice day.
