The Legacy of the East India Company and Its Impact

Can anyone elaborate on why this is considered great? The East India Company took advantage of divisions in India and operated by the motto "Divide and Rule," meaning they exploited the divisions among Indians to maintain control. Initially, they applied this strategy in Bengal in 1757, and subsequent events followed. By 1947, the British Government acted as a buffer between Indians and the East India Company. Politically, India gained independence, but not in its management. Major Acts remained unchanged.

The Constitution of India was enacted with significant inputs from The Government of India Act, 1935. Even major Acts like the Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Indian Evidence Act remained the same. The Land Acquisition Act of 1894 is currently under consideration for repeal.

Thus, the legacy of the East India Company continues. In this context, there is a nativistic movement led by Anna Hazare to replace the "kale angrezs" (black Englishmen) with clean Indians.

Every company, including yours, aims for reasonable profit. Will the corporate world be affected by this nativistic upsurge led by Anna Hazare, referred to as the Second Independence Movement? Will it impact the reasonable profits that the corporate world is currently enjoying?
