Dear Sanjoykum,

Welcome to CiteHR.com.

With reference to your query about your office providing staff bus, and if this bus reaches late, then what should HR people do; has left me completely puzzled! I wonder, what do you intend to do (if you are the HR person)?

Are you considering some form of 'discipline' or 'punishment'? Please clarify what exactly you wish to do to enable members to suggest solutions.

Warm regards.

Is a bus provided to staff on a contract basis or owned by the company? If it is on contract, then at the time of entering into the contract, certain clauses are enacted, and one of them should be related to late coming and the penalty for such incidents. You bluntly charge for such incidents.

If it is managed and run by the company, and the driver is on a contract basis, frequently arriving late on the premises, then at the first instance, you deduct one day's wages to avert his behavior. If it is repeated, then you can change the driver, of course, without giving more thought to it.

Dear Sanjoykum,

Greetings!

First, let's identify the issues causing the bus to be late to the office. The delays are primarily due to the following reasons:

1. Traffic congestion (Consider adjusting the office timing by 15 minutes earlier or changing the bus stop timings).
2. Employees being late at the bus stop (In this scenario, it is important to encourage employees to be punctual rather than blaming the driver).

Despite the staff bus running behind schedule, it is crucial to note that they are arriving at the office safely. This safety aspect must also be taken into consideration.

I recommend adjusting the bus stop timings by 10 to 15 minutes earlier.

Thank you.
