Aspiring HR Manager: What Courses and Skills Should I Focus on After My MBA?

suganyahari
Dear Friends,

I'm currently pursuing MBA final year with HR specialization. I want to become a dynamic HR manager. How can I improve my skills for that? And I would like to do some additional courses to enhance my knowledge in HR.

So kindly suggest some ideas regarding additional HR courses after MBA.

Dear, try to join any organization, especially a manufacturing unit, in a generic profile. Don't care about the salary; you will gain real practical exposure to face day-to-day HR administration, operational, and IR problems. Slowly learn them and don't forget to read books too to update your memory. You will see the results after 5 years. Hope this will help you.

Hi Suganya,

HR is one of many disciplines within an organization, and within HR, one discovers that the journey really is all about people as it tends to be the first chance a potential employee gets to view the organization. Unfortunately, in today's race for talent acquisition, HR managers are grappling with retention of skilled people within their organizations as employees are becoming more discriminating in their choices these days. Being a dynamic HR manager does not necessarily give one an advantage. In my experience and research, results and outcome-oriented HR individuals who have years of experience coupled with industry certifications like CHRP stick around. It can be a very unforgiving and relentless profession, so getting certified as an HR professional, starting with a few years in compensation, health & safety, recruiting, selection, training, or staff development, can help you in your journey to be an effective leader in the HR field...hope this helps.

I have to agree with the above posts. First, get into the field to get a feel for your true interests in HR. Then, broaden your horizons by adding more courses. One of the most basic principles that helps any HR manager to be dynamic is always putting yourself in the employees' shoes and showing real empathy when needed. They can see through you if your empathy is fake - then you lose their trust and, in the end, lose your impact in becoming dynamic.

All the best with finishing your MBA and much success in your future in HR - it's the best field to be in!

Can anyone who has an M.A. in Public Administration with a One-Year PG Diploma in HRM be eligible for HR jobs? Please answer as soon as possible.

I have the above-mentioned PG degree and am pursuing a PG Diploma in HRM (1-Year) from Annamalai University. I am currently working as an Office Secretary in the private sector (B-School in New Delhi). I am 30 years old with more than five years of experience.

In order to be a dynamic HR Manager, I suggest that you do extensive research and take courses on leadership. You need to enter the industry with a leadership mentality to manage effectively. Engage in as much reading and interaction with HR matters as possible to expose yourself to various aspects of the field.

Hi,

First of all, start working in your HR department to explore your own potentials and see the best that you can deliver. Secondly, just studying any course will not make you dynamic. HR is very vast, and the possibility of implementing your ideas is limited. Depending on the organization and your profile, you will get to learn.

Dear Suganya,

I appreciate your interest in furthering your knowledge of HR, but I am confident that instead of pursuing an additional course, it would be more beneficial for you to join as an HR executive in an organization. There, you will gain more practical knowledge than theoretical. While studying can provide knowledge, working alongside will offer real-life experience. With a reputable degree in hand, why not consider contributing your services to an organization?

Thank you.
