@ Colonel:

Dear Colonel,

I came across your post in other sections where you mentioned:
"Dear Citizens,
The main cause of delay in the movement of Emergency Vehicles into and out of stricken zones was gawking onlookers. Carlton Towers in Bangalore and Stephen's Court in Kolkata are two prime examples. I urge you to join me and take a pledge that in the event of an emergency in a complex, building, or place, we will either clear the area ourselves or assist in the rescue efforts instead of being passive bystanders obstructing Rescue Vehicles.
Please help spread this message to everyone.
Regards,
Colonel Jude Mayne"

Dear Hansa Vyas,

Do you really believe that the direct and root causes of the Masses Fire Incident are the ones shown in the cutting? There may be a cause, of course, probably many causes, direct or root cause for the fire but not the ones shown as such. As a safety professional, look at it again. The cause may be something else, and the severity went up with the reasons shown.

Kindly help me out if my thinking is indifferent, please.

Accidents like this one can happen anywhere, anytime. The concern shown is genuine, as most of us work in large buildings where safety measures are not rigorously followed. Important aspects to note include proper exits, clear passages free of material obstructions, etc., which should be taken care of regularly.

Dear Hansa,

Really a good posting. Whatever may be the root cause or even if we may not follow the directives given by the Government, it is always better to save as many lives as possible during a fire instead of standing like the goddess Jagannath in Puri, Orissa. Shout for help, clear the obstruction, and provide passage to help save the victims and property.

Fire extinguishers should be available in all offices and buildings as necessary equipment. Check for serviceability regularly.

Dear all,

Nice to see the comments. If you go through the root cause of this fire, you can easily find out the solution. The government approved the extension plan, and they have received taxes for the extended portion. However, the government is now absconding from giving any relief to the taxpayers. This is how all our findings slip out of our minds, and we end up seeing and commenting without providing any solutions.

Thanks,
Nabolbona
