How Can We Make Our Annual Day Exciting for Employees and Their Families?

ssirohi
Dear all,

I would like to know about new activities that the HR department can undertake from time to time to generate interest among employees in the organization. Our annual day is approaching soon, and I would like to introduce some fresh and engaging activities that involve employees and their families. What are the various activities we should organize to pique employees' interest in the annual day while benefiting the organization at the same time?

Thank you
Shweta P.
Dear Sirohi,

In our organization, quarterly we have lunch/dinner/movie/outing for office staff. Of course, it should involve some games too. These kinds of casual activities are helpful for team building.

Hi Shewta,

First of all, thanks for your quick response. Yes, I have also planned like this, but could you specify what kind of games we are talking about?

Thanks again,
Shweta P.
I feel that in such events, games should be inclusive, allowing everyone to participate with their families and enjoy themselves. For example, a quiz on general knowledge like the one in Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), where the winning team could receive free tickets for a movie or passes for a dinner or lunch.

Hi,

We are a company of 400+ and always in search of new programs of employees' interest. We have also taken them out and conducted drawing competitions where we have framed and displayed their work inside the office. More than anything else, I have realized that division-wise quiz competitions were the biggest entertainers and successes, and staff involvement was at a very high level. We saw great improvement in team building and support.

Now, we are planning to have a carrom competition.

Thanks,
Bhavana

Hi,

We are a company of 900, and we have activities every month such as Color Day, Surprise Day, Boss Day Out, Guess It, etc. It's real fun! The success of these programs lies in promoting these events and encouraging people to participate.

Hi Bhavana,

Every month is dedicated to one activity. On Color Day, every team should pick a team color, and the best-looking team will receive a prize. On Surprise Day, each team has to choose a theme and decorate their workstations based on the theme. Guess It Day will feature multiple events, such as guessing the weight of a displayed cake, estimating the number of chocolates in a glass bottle without counting them, and participating in a few quizzes. We also have Potluck Day where everybody brings their homemade dishes to share.

If you would like to learn more about other events, please let me know.
