Struggling to Land a Job: Can You Help Improve My Resume and Suggest a Fair Salary?

yaasmin_84
Dear Seniors,

I have been searching for a job for the last month, but unfortunately, I have not had much success. I have uploaded my resume for your reference. Could you please assist me in making it more presentable? Additionally, I would appreciate it if you could suggest an appropriate salary for me.

Thank you for your help.

Nothing is wrong in your resume, and there is no need to worry. It has only been a month. I know a few people who have been searching for jobs for more than 3 months on average.

And yes, the experience should always be mentioned first in the resume after your objective, followed by the educational details.

You can expect a difference between 10% to 25% in your salary as per the current economic scenario.

I suggest you put your personal details first. The employer would like to know more about you briefly before reading your experience and education details. That should be the first thing on top. Check other resumes on Google for the standard format. All the best.

Hi Yasmin,

Please review your duration periods from company to company and ensure that your education details are clearly stated, specifying whether it was through regular or distance mode. These are the mistakes in your resume.

Hi,

My perception of a CV is that it should start with the key result areas that make you stand out to HR, making it interesting. This should be followed by your current experience, qualifications, and finally your personal information. Your experience should focus more on qualitative work rather than daily routines. It should also include your responsibilities. I have made an effort to enhance these aspects in the CV.

Sachin

Please put your professional experience just after the objective because for experienced candidates, the professional experience part is the most vital for recruiters to review. Also, one thing I have noticed is you have included two experiences of 2-3 months. This may reflect instability. In my opinion, please remove that. Best of luck for your bright future.

Hi,

According to my knowledge about resume writing, there are some mistakes in your resume:

1. There should not be any heading like "RESUME."
2. Your picture should not be included.
3. Your experience should come after the objective.
4. Your resume should not exceed two pages.

Best of luck.

Hi Yasmin,

Greetings of the day.

I feel your resume is good; however, I feel the categories should be as follows:

1. Name, Address, Contact Number, Email Address.
2. Career Goals & Objectives.
3. Educational Profile.
4. Work Experience (Start with current details and then move on to past experiences, which you have correctly done in your current resume).
5. Projects Undertaken (if any).
6. Extra-curricular Activities.
7. Other Information.
8. Personal Details.
9. Declaration.

I hope my information was helpful.

Hi,

I didn't find anything wrong in it. I just wanted to check if you actually work as a manager or if it's just a designated title since you are young and have already reached the manager level. There might be a possibility that the company is not considering your resume due to your age and experience. If you actually work as a manager and have people reporting to you, then it's great. If it's just a designation, then you should remove it.

Just rearrange the resume.

1. Objective.
2. Experience in sequence.
3. Mention the duration of the period after rechecking so that it clarifies there is no gap in between. Remove the repeating points.
4. Academic details.
5. Personal details.

Dear All,

I am attaching the resume of one of my friends who is highly experienced in his field. He has posted his resume on almost all portals but has not received a single inquiry in the past 18 months. By God's grace, he is continuing with his current job. However, what is lacking in his resume that is not attracting recruiters or employers? Can anyone diagnose the issue?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Yasmin,

Your resume looks absolutely fine. There is no problem whatsoever in your resume, apart from the dates. Anyways, these days we don't have enough time to go through all the resumes that candidates submit. It all depends on you and your convincing skills.

I have openings in my company. It is unfortunate that we cannot offer you more than 2.5L (PA).

Regards,
Amaan

Everything is okay, Yasmin. My only point is that last time you had written about experience with 3-4 companies, but now it seems to have reduced to 2. Please double-check and ensure you write about all your work experiences in a company without any gaps. For instance, if your previous employment was from February 2004 to May 2008, the next one should start immediately after, not in June 2008. It should overlap if there was no gap in between. Other than that, all looks good. Best of luck.
yaasmin_84
Dear Chandrawanshi,

Actually, many of my seniors suggested that I should not mention short-term experience of 2 to 3 months, so I deleted it. I have convinced my employer to issue me a continuous experience letter with mention of promotions and authorities.

Hi,

I suggest listing your qualifications first, followed by your experience. Also, avoid mentioning "academic qufn." as it appears you have mixed up academic and professional qualifications. Instead, use a heading for qualifications and replace "other" with "other activities" to avoid repetition.

Thank you.

Yasmin, your last three jobs show very little stability - I mean 2 months, 3 months, and currently 18 months, which gives the impression of a job hopper. Please provide a strong reason for the job changes, as stability is a major concern in your resume. Everything else looks fine.
khurramin
Dear Yasmin,

First of all, don't worry about one month. Under normal circumstances, it usually takes 3-4 months to land a good job. As these are not normal times, so don't worry, it may take a bit longer.

Now, I think you should shorten your resume; its length is long considering your short span of experience. I would suggest removing the percentage column and shortening the job description of your first job as well.

Hi Yasmin,

Please note the following points:

- Career Objective or Summary should be the first heading. (If it's a summary, it should contain precise information on education, experience, and knowledge areas).
- Second comes Experience.
- Third is the role in the current Organization.
- Fourth comes Accomplishments.
- Fifth comes Education.
- Sixth comes Areas of exposure (if experienced) or Knowledge areas (if fresher).
- Seventh comes Personal profile.

Good luck, Yasmin.

Dear Seniors,

First of all, I would like to thank all of you for giving me your precious time and valuable suggestions. As per your suggestions and guidelines, I have made necessary changes to my resume as follows:

1. Shortened it to two pages.
2. Rearranged the layout.
3. Removed two short experiences of 3 months.
4. Requested my current employer to provide me with a continuous experience letter, including a breakdown of designations. They have approved it because the reason for my gap was the company's decision to close the Mumbai office, but they decided to continue operations and offered me a good position with a good package.

However, they are now relocating to Airoli, Navi Mumbai, and are willing to provide transportation. Unfortunately, I cannot travel beyond Churchgate and Borivali.

I would like to request you, seniors, to spare some more of your precious time and valuable suggestions.

Thank you.
