hi, could you please provide information on wht should be the working hours for a sales &marketing company as per the law as well as what all paper work are required while making a employee file???

According to Labor Law, not only sales & marketing company, anybody as an employee is suppose to work 48 hours a week in his/her normal pay. Anything after that should be given over time pay according to the act.
The 48 working hours will be 8 hours for 6 working days or 8 hours for 5 working days with compulsory holiday (1day) in a week.

hi mahr....thanks for this but am a little confused as u mentioned 8 hrs for 6 days or 8 hrs for 5 days, that comes out to be only 40 hrs in total.
So r u suggesting that company must work on 6th day for few hours (like a half day)

hi prashant....am joining a new start up so am required to do a lot on the HR front....can you advise of some site or ref books that wud help me in implementing stuff on a daily basis.....
any advice would work :)

Workings hours are same for all industries and functions, there is no differentiation as per various labour laws

some one on this forum informed me that for a sales & marketing company......shop & establishment acts should be looked into while settin up HR policies like workin hrs etc....it says max 9 hrs per & max 48 hrs in a week,which differs a little from what you have said....can u plz advice on this
