I would like to share some of my views over here....
So, what is the basic difference between an EXECUTIVE and a MANAGER?
An Executive is the one who implements the things, and a Manager is the one that manages things. A person can become a manager if he has experience, yes, right, but can he survive with the experience? I mean to say, what does an employer expect from an experienced candidate?
To answer it simply, ACCOUNTABILITY is the APT word according to me.
So, what does this ACCOUNTABILITY actually mean....
If you are an executive and working on an assignment and unfortunately, if things are not working according to the expectations even after efforts, you have got your MANAGER to take it ahead and answer the management. So, now, would this be easy for a really spirited manager to say "NO, I am somehow unable to do it successfully."
If he is a spirited manager, I don't think so that he can answer it with ease as his executive does. The reason being, an Executive is still in the learning process and he might not be knowing as many ways as an experienced person does. So, if you have learned the ways in these years of experience and if you can guide your team, then you can be a MANAGER.
This is what I think is the QUALITY for a person to be a MANAGER.
So, the basic quality would be ACCOUNTABILITY for each and everything he does and his team does.
Also, I would like experienced people and professionals over here to comment on the qualities that a manager should have in the present corporate scenario.
Expecting as many responses and different viewpoints.

Kiran.
Actually, there was a typo, it should be "Also, I would like experienced people and professionals over here to comment on the qualities that a manager SHOULD have in the present corporate scenario." Please excuse me for the mistake...
