Dear Dharam & Raj,

Below are some of the circumstances when one can withdraw a loan from the EPF fund:

1. Separation from the Company (Resignation / Termination)
2. Withdrawal from the Fund in case of purchase of site, construction of house; minimum contribution period should be 5 years.
- Advance for repayment of loans; minimum contribution period should not be less than 10 years.
- Advance for serious illness.
- For self/son/daughter marriage; minimum 17 years of contribution to the Fund.
- Natural calamities.
3. In case of death.

I hope it is clear to you now.

Dear Amit,

An advance from the PF for marriage is available if the employee has at least 7 years (not 17 years) of membership. Please correct me if I am wrong.
