What Should Employee ID Cards Include? Seeking Your Suggestions!

My company is planning to introduce ID cards for all its employees. Could you give your suggestion as to what all an ID card should include?

The following could be included in the ID cards (preferably photo ID is a good option):

Name
Department
Designation
Phone number

On the reverse side of the card, the following can be added:

Office Address and phone number
Residential Address and phone number

Ideally, all ID cards should carry the following information:

Front side:
- Company Logo
- Employee's recent color photograph
- Employee Name
- Employee Roll No.

Back Side:
- Company name and address with Contact numbers
- Employee Emergency contact number
- Employee Blood Group (Useful in case of accidents)
- Employer emergency number (preferably HR or Admin number)

Including details like Employee department, designation, or residential address on ID cards may not be advisable due to various security issues.

ID card consists of the following employee's information such as:

1. On the top of the Front side, your company name with logo and address & phone number.
2. Employee's recent stamp-size color photo.
3. Name.
4. Employee number.
5. Section/Department.
6. Designation.
7. Age/Date of Birth.
8. Blood Group. (For the Front Side)
9. Contact Address with.
10. 'In case of Emergency' - Phone number on the reverse side.
11. A barcode associated with the Employee's Employee number. (For the Reverse Side)

Front Side
Employee Photograph, Name, Signature, ID NO.
Company Logo, Name & Address, Stamp
Valid Date & Issued Date, Signature of the person issuing it.

Back Side
Some Instructions like
Must be carried by the employee and presented on demand.
Return it to the office address in case found, etc.

I agree with all the feedback above regarding what should be included on the ID card. Additionally, you or the company should determine the purpose and use of the ID card. For some organizations, ID cards serve not only for identification but also for security reasons. For example, they are used to distinguish between employees and non-employees, grant access to specific offices or buildings, and more. Some ID cards also include security features like embedded microchips, thumbprints, magnetic strips, etc., enabling the company to control and monitor card usage and movements based on the level of security needed.

If your company only requires the ID card for identification purposes, high-tech features may not be necessary. However, for security reasons, I suggest including serial numbers on the ID cards. In today's modern world, with advanced technology, it is relatively easy for people to duplicate ID cards and misuse them. If such incidents occur, it could potentially harm the company's reputation.
