Considering a Career Shift to HR with an LL.B. and MPM: Is It the Right Move?

Dear all,

I completed my LL.B. in the year 2005 and have 2 years of experience in Litigation. Currently, I am pursuing MPM IV. I am considering a career in HR and would like to know if this transition would be beneficial. If anyone has any insights, please feel free to share. You can reach me at madi20.jain@gmail.com.

Madhur,

Why do you want to go into the HR field? Why don't you try for a Legal Advisor job in any reputed company? You will have more scope and a higher salary in this field.

Dear MADHU JAIN,

MPM stands for Master of Personnel Management, which focuses mainly on Recruitment, Labor Laws, Trade Unions, Grievance Handling, and all statutory records. Therefore, you are required to pursue PGDHRM along with this course to build a career in HR. In addition to the areas mentioned above, HR also emphasizes Training and Development, Performance Appraisal, and competency mapping. One must have thorough knowledge in HR to become an HR professional.

Hello Sir,

Thanks a lot for your reply, sir. I am also trying to get a job in the legal field, but so far, there have been no good job matches as per my profile. If you have any knowledge about that, please let me know.

Dear Madur,

The HR field is the best option. You can also consider applying for the personnel department in any manufacturing concern with your current qualifications. Later on, you can transition into the core HR field. Take some time to think it over and make the right decision.

Thank you.
