Understanding Factory Rules: How to Find State-Specific Regulations for Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, and West Bengal

mohit_UIL
Do we not have central factory rules as we have rules under various other acts like the Minimum Wages Act, etc.? Some states do adopt rules applicable in other states by notification. How can one find out which state has adopted which rules under the Factory Acts? No rules are prescribed under the Factory Act.

Can anybody please help tell me the Factory rules applicable to the State of Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, and West Bengal or Kolkata?

Dear Mohit,

There can never be a Central Factory Rules. For the central government, there will only be a Factories Act based on which every state is to frame rules to suit their culture, climate, and so on. If a state is divided, the new state may also follow the same rules. If they want, they may frame their own rules in time.

In the case of Haryana, they follow the Punjab Factories Rules and address them as THE PUNJAB FACTORY RULES, 1952 AS APPLICABLE IN THE STATE OF HARYANA. Andhra Pradesh Factories Rules, 1950, and The West Bengal Factories Rules, 1958 are in force.
