Healthcare (the Hospital Vertical) in India is at a very nascent stage because of which the practices are not as evolved as some of the other sectors (IT, for example). That said, an HR professional could have to handle a variety of tasks including Talent Acquisition (which encompasses Manpower Budgeting, Recruitment, Sourcing, Selection, Campus Relations), Training (both medical and non-medical), Employee Welfare, Engagement (especially with medical professionals such as Doctors), and Performance Management (including activities like KRA setting and the Appraisal process). These functions would typically exist at a unit hospital within a chain of hospitals.

Moreover, in the case of a chain of hospitals (or even a standalone hospital), the Headquarters could have roles like Change Management, Organization Development, and Employer Branding, which operate at a more strategic level.
