Hi Guys,
Metacognition refers to learners' automatic awareness of their knowledge and their ability to understand, control, and manipulate their cognitive processes. Metacognitive skills are important not only in school but throughout life. For example, Mumford (1986) states that it is essential for an effective manager to be someone who has learned how to learn. He describes this individual as someone who knows the stages in the learning process, understands their preferred approaches to it, can identify and overcome learning obstacles, and can apply off-the-job learning to on-the-job situations.
