Hi,

Recently, one of my employees met with an accident and passed away on the spot. Please let me know the procedure for claiming the PF benefits and which forms should be submitted.

One of the employees who worked with us for about 5 months contributed to the PF/Pension Fund during that period. Sometime after leaving the services, he passed away. At the time of his death, he was not employed anywhere, and neither had he transferred nor withdrawn his PF. As far as I understand, the nominee is eligible to withdraw the PF amount. My question is - will the nominee (his wife) also be eligible for the pension benefits?

Hi,

The male pensioner is already receiving his pension, but he passed away a few days ago. The pension amount should now be transferred to his nominee. Could you please advise on the process to facilitate the transfer of the pension amount?

I am sorry to hear about the passing of your father on 5th February. In order to claim his PF balance, you will need to follow certain procedures. Typically, to claim the PF balance of a deceased member, the nominee or legal heir needs to submit a few documents such as the death certificate, legal heir certificate, PF withdrawal form, and any other documents as required by the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO).

It is advisable to visit the nearest EPFO office or check their official website for detailed information on the process to claim the PF balance of a deceased member. It is important to ensure that all the necessary documents are in order to facilitate a smooth claim settlement process during this difficult time.

I hope this information helps, and I extend my deepest condolences to you and your family during this challenging period.
