Sudexo meal pass - we can purchase electrical items with these passes?

Dear All, I'm getting sudexo meal pass every month for Rs 2600/-. I shifted to Gurgaon where one of my neighbours told me that we can purchase electrical items with these passes. So instead of purchasing food items ,I kept these vouchers since June 2009 to purchase a television.But when asked in Big Bazaar and Reliance fresh now,I was told that they are not allowed. These passes are valid upto December 2010. Can anyone tell me regarding this becoz my requirement is to purchase T.V.

Yes they do accept the coupons instead of money, however the validity of the card always matters...

Sodexho meal pass can be used to buy only food items and not any other items at all and hence Reliance and Big bazaar have disagreed for the same.
You can buy your monthly rations using the coupons and the money you would have spent for rations can be set aside and TV can be bought.

I believe, Sodexho passes can only be used for food items and it cannot be used for retail outlets for whatsoever other than those.
Hope members have clearly stated the same.

There is a small correction in this. Sodexo pass is not a food pass. It is a pre paid coupon with denominations which can be used for purchases... Again it has a valid date of expiry which must be regulated... ;)

sorry to say but people fooled u saying that u can purchase electronics as it clearly written on sodexho's that its a meal pass which means u can purchase all food items.what i can suggest is that u can ask any of your frnds to take them in exchange on money or else u can purchase grossaries and lastly u can have a big party out of those passes as they are taken by dominoes and pizzahut and few other resturants . i hope u get the best deal.

I agree with most of the opinions as Sodexo Pass is issued by your organisation to optimise income tax as a meal voucher. You can exchange the coupons at supermarkets and other shops for food items and "other" items if they allow. You cannot redeem these coupons for non food items as a right.

I am dealing with the sodexo company for the employees of my organization. Each of my company employee purchases any thing and everything which is there in the mall or the shop which accept these tickets. Hope you have to check with this and get cleared..

Sodexho / Accord Radhakrishna kind of coupons are only meant for food items. That is the reason deduction for Income Tax is also given. It can't be used for any other purchases. Ofcourse, some outlets who deal with variety of items including food items accept food coupons also as a marketing strategy. Otherwise, strictly speaking meal coupons are meant only for food items.

I don't think you can use meal pass to buy any other stuff other than food items
it can also be used in restaurants where they accept this.
electronic items can't be purchased with meal pass
