Hi to all friends. Can anybody tell me, while preparing a job description for a particular job, what is the difference between 'key responsibility areas' and 'key performance areas'? How do we actually frame a job description?
Hi Anud, the way I see it and apply it is as follows:
There are many ways to describe the main tasks of a job. Some organizations refer to them as Key Results Areas/Key Performance Areas, etc.
In general, the key responsibility areas/main tasks describe what work is performed in a job, e.g., Staff selection with its subtasks like shortlisting, interviewing, assessments, etc.
The difference between a job description and a job profile is the reference to the outcomes and performance criteria. That is when they use Key Performance Areas/Results with the criteria (referred to as Key Performance Indicators = KPIs). An example would be: All candidates are shortlisted with the KPI as all candidates' CVs evaluated according to position requirements and within 14 hours after the closing date of the advertisement.
Thanks, dear. Actually, I'm a fresher and recently joined an IT firm. I'm on a 10-day training, and my boss gave me an assignment to prepare job descriptions of technical support, quality, and business development executives. My firm is dealing in web designing, bulk SMS, software, hardware repairs, and AMCs.
