How Do I Calculate Death Gratuity for My Late Father's Government Service?

shatvm
Dear All,

My father was a central government employee and passed away on 30.03.2004. He had a total service of 19 years, 8 months, and 22 days. His last drawn salary was Rs. 7004/-

Please let me know the computation of death gratuity.

Thanks with kind regards,
Sha

I regret to see that you have not yet received your father's gratuity even though it has been almost six years. I suggest you take up the matter directly with the government department itself because the calculation of gratuity being discussed in this forum is mainly based on the Payment of Gratuity Act and is applicable to private sector employees. Government servants have a separate set of rules available.

I hope that you may receive some input from others in this forum itself.

The calculation will be as follows: if the Basic is Rs. 7004, then 7004/26 x 300 days = Rs. 80,815/- only. Considering each month as a year, the total comes to 19 years and 8 months, which is rounded up to 20 years.

Thank you.
