Is Combining an MBA in HR with a Company Secretary Role a Smart Career Move?

komy ekta
Dear All,

My name is Ekta. I have completed an MBA in HR and have over two and a half years of experience. I am currently working with a reputable service provider company. Some of my friends have suggested that I pursue Company Secretary (CS) as it could be a valuable addition to my career. Now, I am confused about what to do. Will the combination of an MBA in HR and CS really work together? Please provide your suggestions!

Warm Regards,
Ekta

Hello Ekta,

I wouldn't say no, but it is not absolutely necessary as a value addition unless you are planning to specialize in company laws and related areas. It all depends on which area of HR you are planning to delve into.

Thank you for your suggestion.

I am currently working in the business development team. In that case, what should I do?

Hello Ekta,

Hi,

I am Madhvi, and I also think like Ekta. I'm an MBA in HR and working in an automobile company as a Training & Development Executive in HR. I want to do an extra value-added course, but I am confused about what to do. Please, can anybody help me out and suggest me?

Regards,
Madhvi

Hi Madhvi (Khushi Sharma) & Ekta, I would suggest to both of you that since you are in the MBA HR category, a degree in CS won't be relevant or helpful. Instead, you should consider pursuing an LLB. As HR professionals, you will have to deal with many legal issues where a degree and a high level of knowledge related to various laws would be beneficial.

Rajesh
