Understanding PF and ESIC Contributions: How Do They Work for Salaries Under 10k?

v_gupta
What is the ratio of PF and ESIC between employee and employer? Is it true that the employee whose salary is less than 10k is only eligible for ESIC deduction from the salary?

Thank you.

PF contribution is based on basic + DA. It is 12% from the employee side and 12% from the employer side, in which 8.33% is for family pension, 3.67% is for PF, 1.10% is for EDLIS, and 0.50% is for administrative charges for EDLIS. Additionally, 1% is for administrative charges. Thus, the total contribution from both sides for PF is 25%.

ESI Contribution is at a total of 6.75%. From the employer side, it is 4.75% of the gross salary, and from the employee side, it is 1.75% of the gross salary.
