Just thought of adding my tuppence if I might - to the first question, "tell me about yourself," the candidate's alternate response could be to tell of their strengths and abilities that make them suitable for the job at hand rather than repeating what has already been said in the CV. Moreover, it immediately informs the interviewer that the candidate is aware of the responsibilities and expectations from the role. Advantage candidate!
