Dear Priya,
Name & fame of the company doesn't matter. important is that the responsibility which you are carrying compare to responsibility which the other company is assigning to you.
other foctor also inculdes i.e your carrer aspiration in both the copmanies, exposure, pay package, delegation of authority, reporting structure, (to whom you have to report), working condition etc

Dear Priya
According to me you should opt for HR Executive in a big Organisation because the various facets of HR will be more intensive and your learning will be more rich and robust in contrary to an HR Manager in a small Organisation..The option of HR Manager will always be open to you even if you spent time in a big organisation as an HR Executive.

Hi priya,
i think designation is more important in any organisation, but mean while check the job profile also. from my point of views if you are a HR manager in a small co. then you have lot's of Respected responsibilities. and as a Executive level in a small Big co. i think you won't explore yourself. because they are doing the same work continuously.
Even i also joined a newly start up co. as a HR Manager, and here my job responsibilities is touching all the area of HR. As a challenge i have excepted this. & now i am feeling i am in comfortable level.

Role, designation, size of the company, management style and company culture...all are important for a HR Management professional, I believe. As you have already been promoted as HR Manager, better not to join a big organization as Executive if you are not quite sure of the role and nature of responsibilities ( who knows, whether you would be considered as a 'glorified office assistant' there).
There are many things which large organizations can offer - like centralized corporate HR to look after policies, hiring and systems and decentralized line HR. i.e HR Partners would be looking after shop floors or business units. The simple management style or less hierarchical model in small or medium sized organizations may not necessarily be part of all large organizations

Hi Priya,
A very interesting dilemma, but I beg to differ from all the other seniors.
1. As an HR executive in a large org, what are your roles and responsibilities? Sometimes, you get a lot of exposure to a variety of issues in core HR in large organizations, which the smaller organizations may not provide.
2. A profile from a larger organization will definitely seem better as you advance further in your career. When you are applying for senior posts, you can show that you have the background of having worked in larger companies.
I would suggest you move into the HR executive role. Good luck!

Dear Priya

Its good that u r getting promoted as HR Manager. As u said u r working in a small company with limited hierarchy, The points to be kept in mind is the present role and role which is being given after HR manager.

After being promoted as HR manager u will be responsible for all the activities of the HR and once u got promoted, u will get a good exposure to all the statutory and other HR activities.

After being promoted as HR manager if ur role increase only to a little extent then it become a problem when u get into other company for post of executives they might expect the same as u r doing right now and at the same time if u dont have the exposure of HR manager functions you may a bit difficult to cope up.

Last but not least its u who can take right decision, if u feel that it will give a good exposure then its great that u join that company. Learning is continuous activity and designation is important at the same time learn the new activities and hone up ur skills and talents. It makes u fit in any organization.

All the best

Hi Priya,
Learning is more important than anything. You dont have to know everything already just because you are being promoted. Take it up as a challenge, learn new things, and implement them at your workplace. It will give you immense pleasure and job satisfaction. You will get to handle all the Hr activities unlike in big co.s where you work only on a few elements.

It is not important that you will be a manager or a executive or small org. or big org. but It is more important that what you want to learn, responsibilities, and decision power. which you will get in Small Org. not in big.
