Hiring Contract Labor: Should We Register Locally or Centrally for Multiple Locations?

Manmohanpattnaik
Hi, I am working in a limited company and we want to hire contract labor for our various locations. For that, we have to register ourselves. Can you please suggest if we should register locally or centrally?

Thanks for your advice. Just one more clarification: in case the contract laborers are fewer than 20 and fewer than 10, then what should I do?

I have forwarded your number to our Mumbai counterpart; he will contact you at the earliest.

Thanks

Hello Manmohan,

If you are engaging with less than 20, then there is no need for registration.

We are starting a new contractor for window installation and service. I want to know if we have 8 labor staff in our organization, do we have to register for ESI and PF compulsorily? Please send me the details.

Kindly clarify what you mean by "Govt App." Does it refer to government apprenticeships, government appointments, or something else?

Dear Manmohan,

Your question is a little ambiguous. Still, I am furnishing my views. Central authorities issue registration for any activity that falls under the purview of the Central Government directly. For all other matters, State Government authorities issue registration. Again, for deploying fewer than 20 contract laborers, no registration is required to be obtained.
