Pension Eligibility In Nationalised Banks?

I understand that the retired bank eployees are going to get an opportunity to opt for pension scheme.
I wish to know the eligibilty rules for the pension scheme.
I resigned from Canara Bank after serving for 18 years.Am I eligible for the pension scheme???
I will be thankful for some guidance on the above

friend of mine was removed from a nationalized bank, but this removal had not disqualified him for future employment, pl let us know whether he is eligible for pension, and if so whether full pension or reduced amount, he had a sevice carrier of 31 yrs 2 months
