How Can We Make "Friday Fun" More Exciting with Indoor Games for 50 Employees?

I am working as an HR Executive in an organization. We have "Friday Fun" especially on Fridays where we play games. Could you please suggest some games that can be played inside a room with 50 employees?

I know it's kind of late since you wrote this post, but I've just joined and saw your post. Understand that such books are available in Crosswords and other bookstores that sell management books. The games are very entertaining and also have a learning aspect to them.

The concept of fun and games is of recent origin. General mind and tongue-twisting words, opportunity plays, simple and sound building concepts, physical exercises, meditation, pranayama are some of the long lists of concepts that anybody can think of. It does not require any big logic or intelligence. If you analyze for some time as to what you enjoy and do not enjoy, you will come to know many things.

Ensure the most important part that there is no element or scope of vulgarity, obscene, indirect, and hidden useless messages that do not contribute to the enhancement of the goodness of mind or body in your games.

If the participants are youngsters, there is a limit for everything. This is a practical experience for all of us.

Whether it is named fun or in any term, the ultimate objective has to be the enhancement of one's inner personality, and it contributes to society, which includes family, office, and public members.

We can engage our employees through various activities and generate interest in work. The activities can be categorized as:

1. Leadership Communication
2. Happy World Initiative
3. Work-life balance
4. Fun @ work

Leadership Communication:
High Tea with Leadership for Top performers if the organization is big or with everyone if it is a small one.
Family Day celebrations: Invite the families of top performers and take them through the company profile and talk about the efforts put in by the employees. This is good motivation for the employees and a feel-good factor for their families.
Round tables: You can gather a set of employees and have them talk about their likes and dislikes, suggestions, feedback with their management team.

Happy World Initiatives: Here you can take initiatives and encourage employees to come forward for a good cause which will give them a lot of satisfaction, such as:
Make the employees meet the people in an Old Age Home and spend half a day at their place on Parents' day or Father's Day, etc.
Get the orphanage kids and let them play and tour the entire organization (if your policy allows) and have fun.

Work-Life Balance:
Likewise, contribute clothes, books, and other materials to NGOs.
Keen on Green Programs, Yoga Classes, Physical exercise, initiating a Baby care center at your place (if no constraints), etc.

Fun @ work: Here you can conduct activities like:

I have one game to suggest. Write all employees' names on different chits of paper. Fold them. First, call any employee. Ask him to pick one chit. Ask him to tell the name in that chit, and also he should tell the merits and demerits of that person or positive and negative things about that person. Negative things mean the field in which that person should improve. After the first person finishes, the chit should be kept aside from other chits, and the person whose name appeared previously in the previous chit will be the next participant. Again, he should pick one chit, and like this, the game continues. Here, every employee gets a chance to speak as all 50 names will be there. This game will help employees improve themselves and also increase communication among employees.

Hi Nimisha, please try Houzy game. It is very interesting and joyful. You can purchase this game at the store. Let me explain how to play - there is a ticket on which a number is printed. You decide the price of the ticket based on the number of players. Then, someone picks a number and announces it. If anyone has that number on their ticket, they cross it off. There are three rows, and for each row, whoever crosses off all the numbers wins a prize. There is a prize for each row, and one grand prize for all the numbers on the ticket.

This Is My Life

You can play this game; it will help employees get to know each other.

Time: A few minutes to 1 hour
Purpose: Learn personal backgrounds in a fun setting
Participants: All
Materials needed: Decks of cards — picture cards only

Instructions: Cards represent different stages of life; i.e., Jack is childhood, Queen is teen years, King is young adult, Ace is now. As each person draws a card, they must tell one story about the period of their life that corresponds to the card.

Desired outcome: The team uncovers common interests and opens dialogue.

If you have 50 employees, first divide them into different groups and allocate some creative names and dress codes. Organize competitions within each group and offer specific prizes or certificates.
