Is My Employee Holiday Calculation Fair? Seeking Advice on Better Practices

Hello everyone.

This is my first post in the forum. The problem is regarding the salary computation of employees. I have a retail showroom with 30 employees (mostly salespersons). Weekly, we have 1 day off (Wednesday). So, in a month of 31 days, there are generally 26 working days and 5 holidays. What we have been doing is that if an employee comes for 22 working days, he will be given 22*5/26 = 4 holidays (rounded off to the nearest integers). I want to know if this is the standard practice or if there is any better system? There are some loopholes in this method, like last month during Diwali, we gave 2 extra days of holidays, thus leading to 24 working days and 7 holidays. An employee working for 22 days will just get 6 holidays even if he is absent for only 2 days, i.e., 6.45% of 31 days.

Thanks, Sreekumar.j, for your reply. However, my basic problem still remains unsolved.

Suppose a worker works for 15 days in a month (consisting of 5 holidays). Should he be paid for 20 days or 18 days (15+3 holidays)? (3 is calculated according to 15*5/26)
