Stuck in a Job Bond Nightmare: How Can I Get My Certificate Back and Move On?

Hi, I am writing this from Chennai.

I joined a company in Chennai with the help of a friend referring me. I also signed a bond. It had just 3 employees, and 2 of them were in my project. The other guy in my team was my friend and a total newbie. So, I was the only person taking care of the project and did well to take it up to a certain level. However, I faced many problems from management:

- Never got Salary (3 months)
- Disrespect for me and my work (I'm saying this not just to add points)
- Lack of cooperation
- High working hours, approximately 10-11 hours, and asked to work more on nights and Sundays, which I didn't.

I literally had every problem I could have and discussed those things with management. Instead of correcting those, they continued to insult me on work. Then, I decided to leave the organization. I submitted my resignation through email and also handwritten. They took my letter but are arguing with me to compensate as stated in the bond and holding my certificate.

Even my dad went to the office and asked them to surrender back my certificate. They are refusing, saying if they do so, other unpaid employees will also leave. I am in deep trouble. What should I do?

"I learned my lesson." I should have never listened to my friend. He advised me to sign, and now he stepped aside and said, "you are on your own."

Kindly help me in this matter. I don't have peace of mind now. I am attaching the service agreement soft copy. Kindly guide me to solve this problem.

How will my case be dealt with if I go to the police? Any idea, or should I send a legal notice? I want to recover it as soon as possible. Help me, please. Did I post in the wrong section?

Is it true that every page accompanying bond paper needs to be signed, as stated below in one of the threads? Because I didn't sign every page, only the last page, which is a normal A4 sheet with a printed clause. In that case, is it valid?

Please file a FIR against them as it is a criminal offence - holding somebody's property with dishonest intention. You should go to the police station immediately.

Okay, thanks for moderating. That's my final hope. I am going to complain, and I will post the progress.

One more thing I want to ask. I believe that if I go to the police station to file a complaint, I will get back my certificate. I plan to start a blog regarding how deceitful that company is, to make people aware and prevent them from falling into their traps. Can they take action against me for that? I don't want those individuals to get away with this. Please note, this is not about revenge; I simply want to raise awareness about that fraudulent company. Is there any other way I can do it?

If you have worked and have not been paid your salary, first write a formal letter to your employer demanding the outstanding salary with interest. Be specific in your letter by outlining the exact months, days, and the amount of salary due. Also, clearly state that if the salary is not received within four days, you will escalate the matter to the Police, Labor Officer, Labor Commissioner, etc. Even if you have resigned, the employer is obligated to pay your salary promptly when it is due. This approach should be effective.

Similar steps can be taken to retrieve your certificates.
