Concerned About Data Leaks? Which Companies Ban Mobile Phones in the Office?

rajugitam
Dear All,

We are basically involved in R&D activities, where a lot of intellectual property is being used. We have concerns that whatever we develop, such as code and product design, could be at risk of leaking outside our organization. Can you please provide me with a list of organizations that have prohibited the use of mobile phones in their offices?

Can anybody assist me with this matter?

Dear Friend,

The Indian Army is my simple answer. Wherever you feel your rights are under threat, you can develop a rule to eliminate that.

Raju, generally, e-billing solution companies restrict the use of mobile phones in their office premises. Examples of such companies include Verisign and PCI.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

Dear Raju,

Corporates functioning in the Research & Development domain, Core IT, ITES, and IT Infrastructure have banned the usage of any transmitting or data-carrying capacity devices in and around specific areas. For example, we have been instructed not to use our cellphones, Blackberry, or Pendrive in our meeting rooms, monitoring rooms, etc.

Few companies, to my knowledge, that have banned cellphones and similar devices are:
A. Google
B. Cisco
C. Microsoft
D. Infosys
E. Airbus
F. Coca-Cola
G. Pepsi
H. Nike
I. Reebok
J. KFC

Thank you.
