1. Delegates work rather than balancing workloads. This allows all attention to be diverted from them in case of failure.

2. Reduces answers to Yes or No rather than explaining their reasoning.

3. Cannot separate personal life from professional life. Their personal problems come to work with them.

4. Is a crisis manager, not a planner.

5. Humiliates subordinates within a group.

6. Creates an environment where mistakes are unacceptable.

7. Will not stand behind subordinates when they fail.

8. Encourages hard workers, not smart workers.

9. Judges people on hours, not performance.

10. Will act differently in front of their leaders.

11. Not accepting criticism (by Kornel Alfoldi)

Hi Kunal,

Nice points. I was working on a training session and collating some information. I wanted to bring out the negative traits of a leader, and here they are. Thanks for sharing the information.

Thank you, Kunal, these points are really interesting. In fact, it's a great idea to evaluate not only our leaders but also ourselves. Can you please let me know how we can enhance our leadership skills? I've recently joined an organization where I'll soon need to recruit people reporting to me, so I need to know more about positive leadership.

Hi Vividha,

Thanks for replying. Well, you can go through many articles on Google which are based on enhancing leadership skills. My opinion is that leadership develops over time. We all need to navigate through the storms first.

Since you are going to handle a team soon, remember that you need to foster your team's environment. This would encourage them to bring their ideas forward. There will be initial issues, but as you move ahead, your communication will improve.

Ensure that you motivate your team members to contribute and believe in the concept of "fun@work". I am sure this piece of information may not give you a full understanding, but as I stated earlier, we all learn through experiences.

All the best. Feel free to ask if you require any other information.
