Candidates States Graduation Document Original Lost - University Unable To Trace.

seekhelp
Greetings Seniors,
We are kind of short listing candidates on behalf of our clients. I have a unique case here. The candidate is a Graduate and has more than 15 years of experience in IT industry. He has traveled to many countries and worked for top level MNCs. His Experience verification is Positive. But he says his Graduation originals are lost and he is unable to get duplicates from university. It seems he is trying it for 3 years but University is unable to trace 20 year old records.
Have you encountered such cases? Can I recommend his profile to our client?
With Regards,

As per my advice you can consider this candidate...may be his problem is authentic..but to be in the safe side you can take an acknowledgement letter from him to be safe in future.

I agree to Ravishank... it is impossible for your candidate not to be able to secure copies of his credentials from the University.
I am working with the HR of a University. Diplomas, Transcript of Records and Graduation documents are intact regardless of years. They even keep an electronic records of those documents.
So... insist on asking for those credentials otherwise don't put your company in jeopardy.

I beg to differ.
I did my Post Grd Dip in Management from a Polytechnic (Now a university) in UK, in 1970. When I enquired about some details of my qualification in the 1990s, I was told that hey did not have the details. I have my ceretificate and a sheet giving the grade. In those days there was no Xerox facility. If by chanc I had lost my certificates, I would have been in soup.
Have a nice day.

Simhan is right ... do some inquiry ... if tracing of his achievement and experience is positive, consider him ... there are universities which do not have good standards of record keeping.

You may try writing to the University/college to see if they can help you. Another thing you could do is to write to the first couple of companies that he/she worked at and understand if he submitted his degree copy.

Hi there, you may want to try writing to the University/college to see if they can help you. Another thing you could do is to write to the first couple of companies that he/she worked at and understand if he submitted his degree copy. One more thing you can do is to ask the candidate to give you the names of fellow students from the college he went to and their contact details. This could also help in verifying whether the candidate actually completed his degree

When I joined a Pivate Sector, having worked abt 5 years in Govt, 24 years in Public Sector, they have never asked for my Degree Certificate. Pl go ahead in appointing him if he is suited for the job - John Samuel

Its very simple. Do a reference check in his previous companies(Right from the first company he joined as fresher). You will surely get to know whether its fact or fake.

Dear Friend,
Endorsing aforesaid views, i suggest to have a Affidavit from the candidate stating the reason of loosing certficate and proposed action to be taken if the stated reason is wrong.
