Dear,

I want to know what industrial relations are because I have had many interviews, and most interviewers ask about industrial relations.

Thank you.

Hi Awdesh,

By industrial relations, we mean the relationship between the employer and the workers/labour workforce. The term 'industrial relations' is very broad and includes the provisions of labor, personnel management, etc. Having sound industrial relations is desirable because it safeguards the interests of both the employer and workers. It ensures a smooth system to enhance productivity and a cordial work environment. Grievance handling, trade unions, labor laws and their provisions, workers' committees are also covered in industrial relations.

I hope that after reading this, you have a fair idea of IR.

All the best

This type of question-answer is very useful not only for students/new candidates but also for HR managers of a manufacturing unit where the management is connected with the labor union.

Can you please provide me:
(1) Details regarding the calculation of privilege leave under the Factories Act 1948?
(2) What is the participation provision of an illegal strike?

Thanks,
Bharat V. Dave
