Modern Job Titles: What Are the Most Current and Suitable Designations Today?

~ Fauzia ~
Hi,

I have recently been tasked with revamping the designations within my organization. I would appreciate it if you could suggest the most modern and suitable designations that are currently in use.

Thanks,
Fauzia

Fauzia:

The usual approach is to list the functional responsibilities, such as: Executive (or Office of the President), Sales, Marketing, Legal (General Counsel), IT (Systems Control), Finance (Accounting), to include Audit, General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Human Resources (Human Relations, or Human Services) which includes Employment, HRIS, Equal Opportunity, Compensation, Benefits, Employee Relations, Community Relations, and/or Labor Relations (if your facility is unionized).

If you are employed by a manufacturer, you need to list the functional areas, such as QC (Quality Control), Material Control, etc.

I don't know whether this is any help to you...

Thanks Derek & Eskimo for your responses.
As an answer to Derek's Question, I am giving a brief detail of the Current Designations of one of our Group's Company (Production Units), Which need to be changed.
Ours is a Large Group having many Small Companies under it, spread over various locations. Few Important positions are: The Director, then comes General Manager (Finance), GM (Operations), GM (Commercial), GM (Sales), Manager (Human Resources),
Sr. Manager (Accounts), Manager (Legal Admin), Accounts Officer, etc.
The Designations in our Productions Units (Commercial Vehicles) Which are to be changed are:
Manager (Body Building), Manager (Accounts), Deputy Manager (Production), Deputy Manager (Accounts), Deputy Manager (Maintenance), Asst Manager (Ancillary), Deputy Manager (Excise), Deputy Manager (Purchase & Stores), Asst Manager (Stores).
Currently only the posts of The Production Units (Given above) are to be changed.
Awaiting a prompt response

Hi,

In my organization, the following designations are used:
- Executive (for any department)
- Sr. Executive
- Dy. Manager
- Manager
- Sr. Manager
- Dy. GM
- GM
- VP
- President

These designations apply to each of the 25 departments in our organization, which is involved in manufacturing textile garments.

I hope this information is useful.

Regards,
Derek

The revamping of the designations is to be used as a motivating factor.

Hence, I want the designations to be unique and powerful.

We are also in the process of revamping the designations in our company. Our company is a manufacturing company. Our present designations are Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer - Head for three units, GM - Operation, GM - Finance, etc.

Please suggest new designations for the above.
