I would like to know the scope of HR in Singapore for a person who is an Engineer in IT, has an MBA in HR, and worked for 9 months as an HR generalist in Mumbai. Can anyone provide me with some guidance or links on this topic?

To come to Singapore to become an HR is a near-zero opportunity because:

- There is an abundance of qualified and seasoned Singaporean HR professionals in the country itself to begin with.
- The current focus for the Singaporean Government is to create jobs and fill them with Singaporeans affected by recent retrenchments.
- Unless you have very unique or special knowledge, for example, you are a research scientist lacking in the current workforce or identified by the Government for future nation-building, your work permit will never be approved. Even an Indian Chef needs to be a Diploma Holder before his permit is renewed or approved.
- The cost of living, especially housing in Singapore, is much higher compared to India. Unless you are relocated to Singapore as an expatriate, you may not be able to afford a comfortable lifestyle.
