Hi Sarita.
ERP is Enterprise Resource Planning systems .. It integrate (or attempt to integrate) all data and processes of an organization into a single or an unified system. A typical ERP system will use multiple components of computer software and hardware to achieve the integration. A key ingredient of most ERP systems is the use of a unified database to store data for the various system modules.
SAP is Systems Application Programing is an Integrated Enterprise Resource Planner. SAP has many functions (Finance, Materials, Production, Quality, Maintenance & HR). Sap HR is a module.
Hi Sarita
SAP is one of the many ERP solutions. The best part of SAP is that though it is standard still can be customized. The beauty of SAP is instant data collection and integrating for multi locations. Another advantage which SAP provided is to standardise the business process and practices, thus offering strict adherence to company policies.
I have used customized ERP solutions (bases on Foxpro, Oracle, and Clippers) as well as SAP in my previous organizations. Personally I found SAP better then others and more user-friendly.
