Relationship between TQM and HRD

TQM actually aims at achieving quality at all levels. The quality of work can only be derived by having a quality workforce. HRD deals with improving the quality of the workforce of the organization so that they are successfully retained by the organization.

Industry Practices

Various organizations today practice Six Sigma, Poka Yoke, Kaizen, etc., in order to eradicate any defects, i.e., zero defects, zero loss principle.

Khushboo,

You make a pleasant reply at citehr.com. Congrats.

Yes, to improve the quality of HR, TQM principles are handy. Actually, TQM is pre-built in HRD because TQM is in people's forte. TQM implies continual improvement, so does HR. The focus of TQM is customer satisfaction... Does HR stay away? The process approach is the paradigm of TQM. Can HR be behind in neglecting training as a process?

India follows the Rajiv Gandhi Quality award - Golden Peacock - (improved from C/f Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award of USA). Tata's have their excellence model (again imported and refurbished - if it is not, I am sorry then, but better improve it).
