Is It Safe to Stay on CiteHR.com? Concerns About Unverified Job Postings and Membership

Dear friends,

I am from Australia and recently joined CiteHR.com.

I found a request on this site (for all) from somebody without a name or company name, without any address asking for people to submit their resume (CV) to them as this no-name, no-information, no-whereabouts company was going to start a placement agency.

I felt very strange. Usually in the Western world, this can't happen until a person/company is registered and provides a proper professional service to job seekers.

I did write on their site and did raise a question. Few people supported this theory too but no reaction or reply from this no-name, no-address company.

Whatever happens in a few countries as standard or service-wise, my bigger thought is on the professionalism and action of this website, CiteHR.com. How could this company allow this type of thing to happen? Is this acceptable? And here comes my question... I FEEL LIKE WITHDRAWING MY MEMBERSHIP AND NAME FROM THE LIST. THE QUESTION IS TO YOU... SHOULD I OR NOT...

Please assist as I don't know much about CiteHR.com and their services...

I would suggest not to withdraw your name as it's a very useful site. There are lots of things to learn, including law updates, and we learn so much from here. Secondly, it's up to you whether you reply to someone's post or not. Bye.

Yes, you are all right. My sincere request to all bloggers is not to respond to such posts by providing your private email ID or phone numbers. Instead, please use the CiteHr Private Messaging facility to verify the validity of the originators' claims. Email IDs and phone numbers shared here can be used by anyone for unlawful activities.

I appreciate your concern. I am sorry to say that you yourself do not have a name and location, or you also have not bothered to mention your name at the end of the post except in a subsequent reply.

After seeing the thread mentioned by Mr. Raj Kumar, I asked questions on two threads, "need for legal candidates for a legal firm in Chennai by Adhivarahan" and "Require your resume by A2Z services," which did not have details of the firms or their background. In response, A2Z services have not yet responded. Adhivarahan sent an attachment mentioning his firm only after my questions, and he mentioned that it is a general practice now to search through the net. He appreciated me for forewarning members but advised me not to jump to conclusions. He has not remembered that cyber crimes are also committed through the net.

It is for the members to decide whether to respond or not. Nowadays, we receive lots of e-mails, SMS, phone calls saying that we won lotteries, lucky draws, and asking for personal details. Despite warnings by the police several times, people respond and end up losing money.

Regarding my name or location, firstly, I would like to mention that putting the name or location wouldn't have been a problem at all, except I am very new to this site and I didn't know how to do it (i.e., putting the proper profile name, location, etc.), and it created itself (though I have requested CiteHR officials to help me with how to change the name).

Now, about my name, I am Deepak, and I am from Australia. I also assumed that this site does provide some information about members.

And lastly, one more point, I don't see how that makes a difference to the thread (or inquisition) if I do or don't mention my name or location for some important question.

Thank you for your prompt and positive response. First of all, your name "1a7d" cannot be a name. It is easier to use the word Deepak instead of so many alphanumericals. Are you comfortable with such an identity? Your name is the sweetest word for your ears. It is your identity. You are an individual. A different individual.

Secondly, members have a location displayed on the top of the thread or reply itself. Simhan from the UK, Rajkumar from Delhi, and me from Chennai. All have an address. You mentioned your location in the message only. Many members give their full address at the bottom of the message.

Thirdly, you write about replying to threads without proper address and credentials. Before talking about others, we should have one, isn't it?

Fourthly, I agree with you that you are new to citehr. One day we all were new. (All mothers-in-law were daughters-in-law one day!)

Fifthly, name and location are not important. I fully agree with you. But the issue raised by you is threads without proper addresses or introduction. I believe in practice before preaching.

I had raised this issue because before you wrote, I had taken the initiative against such threads.

You may register with your own name. I am sure you will be able to contribute a lot for the benefit of thousands of members.

I really appreciate your humble message. Thank you for your beautiful, touching gesture. I am writing this message in a bit of a hurry, but I do want to convey many things, including a wish for your friendship.

One interesting thing I found out is that if you or anyone clicks on the resume attachments (in the links sent to the replacement agency), anybody can access all the details (including full address, contact number, age, etc.) from their resumes. I read one resume of a lady named Deepa, and all her information was there. This could be very risky if someone with the wrong intentions uses these details for their own purposes. Just imagine if their details end up in the hands of people from Nigeria who are involved in spreading many scams.

I agreed with you, Deepak. I never respond to such emails. Although I respond to an email asking for my resume, I only mention my qualifications in it. I thought that if it's not fake, the person would contact me, and I asked for contact details for future communication. It makes it less risky.
