Stuck in a Notice Period: How to Handle a Pending Resignation and a New Job Offer

harpreet.s
Hi,

I am Vicky. I was working for one company, but my project got taken over by some other company. They gave us an offer on the same package, and I have accepted that.

Now it's only been 6 days with this new company, and I have received an offer from another company in my hometown. I don't want to miss this opportunity, so I resigned from my current company. I am willing to serve the 1-month notice period as per the company policy and provide proper knowledge transition. However, my manager is speaking to me very rudely and insisting that I stay for the next 6 months. He threatened that if I annoy him, he will instruct the HR team not to release me. Although I have already submitted my resignation, it is still in a pending status. I need to join the new company in one month.

If I complete the 1-month notice period but my resignation is not accepted, what should I do? I am very upset and tense as I do not want to lose this new job opportunity.

The lack of support from my current company is distressing. I need an acceptance letter for my resignation and a relieving letter for my new employer. Please suggest what I can do.

Thanks,
Vicky

Have you asked before accepting any of the offers from either employer? No.
