How Can I Withdraw My PF Before Moving Abroad and Change the Bank Account?

srikanthtech
Hi,

I have resigned from my previous company in the first week of September and am planning to go abroad for a year. How can I withdraw the PF amount now (or at least apply for it) since the Payroll department is asking me to wait for 60 days before applying for withdrawal? However, in this case, it will not be possible as I will be in another country at that time.

Also, could you please let me know if I can change the bank account to which the withdrawal should be credited? My salary bank account requires me to maintain a balance of 1 lakh.

Many thanks for your answers.

No problem, Srikanth. You can apply in Form 19 and 10C (forms can be downloaded from the website epfindia.nic.in) and send the same to the PF office through your present employer immediately by enclosing a covering letter requesting to settle the claim as you are leaving for a foreign country. Attach copies of your passport details and visa details.

You will get the money to the bank which you mention in the claim.

Thanks, Ram, for your reply. I also heard yesterday that if I withdraw PF amount before 5 years, I'll lose 33.3% tax, and if it is after 5 years, there won't be any tax deduction. Is this true?

In my PF withdrawal form, I have mentioned my savings bank account details. However, in my UAN portal, my previous employer's salary bank account details are listed. Is it mandatory to provide the same bank details to withdraw PF?

Thank you.
