Dear VKS,

If you have talent in you and if you believe that you can get a job anywhere, please leave the job. Your MD can not refuse to accept it because there can not be a practice of refusing resignation letter of employees since there is no practice of issuing appointment letters to them. A company which has no leave rules or a company which doesnot even follow the basic labour laws has no right to function. Being private does not give any concession in this respect.

Any organisation is given license as required by the government taking into account an undertaking given by it to serve the general public. As such, if your MD has a licence to run a media firm, it should have been issued with a condition that the firm would serve the general public. Therefore, there is a social commitment for every establishment whether working as private company or public company. If your MD thinks his establishment free from all labour regulations, let him employ his own sons, daughters or spouse but do not employ an outsider and do not make any profit out of any service to public. If he sells his products, he is expected to follow the laws of the land.

In short your MD is either totally an illiterate or pretends to be so or he is becoming smart. Let him be so, but I advise you not to continue with him. As stated earlier, since there is no appointment letter, you have no legal relationship with him. Therefore, you can very easily come out of the company without following rules pertaining to notice pay etc. Do that.

Regards,
