Feeling Stuck: How Should I Handle My Postponed Job Transfer After Resignation?

ABIS
Hi ABIS,

I have submitted my resignation letter dated 13/06/09 due to personal problems in the present posted location and requested to be relieved on 12/08/09 by serving the complete notice period. My manager called for a discussion in August '09 and mentioned that I would be transferred in September '09. He included this information in my resignation letter, which he forwarded to the Head HR. The Head HR also confirmed the transfer plan. I accepted this and informed them that I intended to withdraw my resignation. However, they did not return the resignation letter to me, and September '09 has passed without any action on the transfer. The postponement of the transfer has left me feeling insecure, and I would appreciate some advice from our seniors.

Regards,
ABIS

Hi,

Once the employee has given the resignation, the management has to accept the same in writing. However, the employee does have the opportunity to withdraw the resignation before it gets accepted by the management.

In your case, if there is no official response in writing from the management side, you can withdraw your resignation through another official letter and keep a copy of the letter with you.

Wait for management action. Meanwhile, try to solve the issue by working at the same place or check the status of your transfer.

Be sure the employee does have the right to withdraw the resignation before the resignation acceptance is communicated to the employee.

Hi Everyone, I need a favor from you all. My best employee in the company has given her resignation via email due to some personal problems. I want her to stay. Please suggest how to handle this situation by not accepting her resignation.

Regards, Smriti
