Hello Everyone, I have recently joined the CiteHR community. This is really a nice platform to interact.
I am working for a S|W co. and have a query - Does anybody need to sign on the Salary Slips or does it need any stamp (company stamp or Revenue Stamp) etc.

Dear Garima Sanghvi,
If you are giving hard copy pay slips every month, then it needs to be signed by either the appropriate authority authorised to sign all legal documents on behalf of your company or the finance & accounts head. Check with your management who can sign on these slips.
However, nowadays mostly in the new-age industries, pay slips are being given online by the finance department, in which case, it is not necessary to sign the pay slip.
Hope this answers your query.
Regards,
Samba Siva.

Hi,
Well, most of us (98%) in our company are given a hard copy pay slip but no acknowledgment is taken coz their salary is remitted to the bank and the bank send the confirmation which can be used as evidence.
The few minor employees who receive cash payments of course need to sign and hand over their acknowledgement of accepting the cash.
As long as there is hard evidence of the salary being paid, I don’t think a stamp or acknowledgement is necessary.

Hi,
In our organisation, we have hard copy pay slips, been signed by the accounts manager and with a round seal.
Apart from that the same is updated online for their reference. However when an employee wants to submit the payslip for his personal use, he can take a print out and get it signed and stamped by the accounts dept for authorisation.

Pls refer Payment of Wages Act 1936 along with applicable state rules. A manager/supervisor is to be authorized by a resolution in order to pay the salaries before 7th of wage period in Companies having less than 1000 employees and by 10th in large companies. It is this authorized personnel that shall be responsible on Company's part in any defaults in payments and statutory compliances regarding various labour laws relating to payroll.

Hi Garima,
Regarding your query, now a days as the salary of the employees are remitted in the bank one need not have to get the signature of the employees on the hard copy of the pay slip. But then it is still practiced nowadays. But if you pay the salary in cash to the employees it is necessary to get their signature. And regarding the revenue stamp issue if my memory serves right ,for cash payments above certain amount requires affixing of revenue stamps .

Dear Garima,
If you are providing the Physical Salary Slips than it needs to be signed by the Appropriate Authority with a Compnay's seal. But there is no need of revenue stamp on it as revenue stamp is required for making the payment and not for salary proof.
Since now a days salary slips are generally computerized and sent through Mail only so it doesn't require any signature or stamp.
Thanks
